August Service Tip
Filed under News on Wednesday, August 06, 2008 by Author: Debbie Nipper.

Have your cooling system checked and cleaned daily to prevent engine overheating; especially more often under dirty conditions. Clean the radiator, oil cooler and the radiator screen of any grass or debris using compressed air or low water pressure such as a garden hose.  Do not use high water pressures or you could damage the oil cooler and the radiator.  When washing your decks or flails with a pressure washer or steam cleaner, avoid washing bearing areas. Cleaning solutions may penetrate bearing seals and cause premature bearing failure

July Summer Tips
Filed under Service Tips on Tuesday, July 01, 2008 by Author: Debbie Nipper.

We have run into customers who say their older generation LF series mower will crank and not start. After verifying all switches are working properly, check the battery.

I have noticed that units with a battery that can crank and engine with no issue can have voltage dropping to low for the controller to operate properly. It is easy to find this issue with a load tester. If voltage is dropping below 10 volts while cranking over the controller will not function as designed and not pull in the solenoid. Also, it is critical that the cables and ends are in good shape and corrosion free. These batteries are still usable in equipment that don’t use voltage sensitive controllers. I have had customers install new controllers thinking that was the solution to the issue and only to find out that they had just wasted $1500. Check with any of Golf Ventures West’s service departments before replacing any controller, our service call is a lot less expensive and will get your equipment running with less down time.

More on the Jacobsen Eclipse, the only mowers that adapt to your conditions:
Filed under Customer Testimonials on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 by Author: Debbie Nipper.

The new Eclipse line of walking greens mowers from Jacobsen give you the unprecedented power to dial in the exact cut you want for your turf.  Jacobsen’s Eclipse mowers are the only machines that come standard with separate, adjustable settings for reel speed, mow speed and FOC on  a user-friendly LCD display.  Once you set the FOC, its locked in until the next time you want to change it.  You can also adjust the machine’s weight balance to match varying turf conditions and operator variable.  Although this kind of control is a revolutionary concept in greens mowing, one thing we did not change is our legendary reels.  The same cutting unit that has been the standard in quality-of-cut for 86 years comes on every Eclipse mower.
