“When transporting walk power turf equipment on trailers-either off-road or on-road type, you should shut off the fuel supply valve at the fuel tank. This will prevent fuel flooding of the engine caused by transport bumps or jolts that could open and close the carburetor float needle. IE: (“Liquid locking of the engine”) If this condition occurs it can seriously damage the engine at start up by compressing the fuel above the piston. Or this condition could cause arm or shoulder strains or muscle tears to the operator by the sudden- unexpected stopping of the recoil start cord when pulled. If a small 4 cycle engine has liquid locked you can remove the spark plug from the cylinder head and pull the start rope to expel the excess fuel. After the excess fuel has been removed check the engine oil level to make sure it was not contaminated by the excess fuel. Replace the spark plug and follow the normal engine start up procedures”.
